SSC CGL Tax Assistant Syllabus 

The SSC CGL Tax Assistant role involves work related to tax-related matters under the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). The syllabus for the SSC CGL Tax Assistant exam is the same as the SSC CGL exam syllabus. It includes four tiers:

Tier-I (Computer-Based Examination)

This is a preliminary examination consisting of four sections:

Tier-II (Computer-Based Examination)

Paper-I: Quantitative Abilities

  • The syllabus is similar to the Quantitative Aptitude section of Tier-I but with a higher difficulty level.

Paper-II: English Language and Comprehension

  • The syllabus is similar to the English Comprehension section of Tier-I but with a higher difficulty level.

Paper-III: Statistics (For candidates applying for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade-II)

Paper-IV: General Studies (Finance and Economics) (For candidates applying for Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO))

  • The paper will be conducted in English or Hindi.

Tier-IV (Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test)

Data Entry Speed Test (DEST):

  • 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on Computer. (For Tax Assistant Posts)

Computer Proficiency Test (CPT):

  • Word Processing
  • Spread Sheets (Excel)
  • Generation of Slides (PowerPoint)

The candidates are required to qualify each tier individually to move on to the next tier.

Note: The difficulty level of questions increases with each subsequent tier. The focus areas vary depending on the role, but the syllabus remains consistent for all SSC CGL aspirants.
