West Bengal Police Sub Inspector Syllabus
The West Bengal Police Sub Inspector (WB Police SI) exam is conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) to recruit candidates for the post of Sub Inspector/Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch) and Sub-Inspector (Armed Branch). The selection process consists of:

1. WB Police Sub Inspector Preliminary Examination Syllabus
The Preliminary Examination is an objective-type test that serves as a screening examination for the candidates. The total duration of the exam is 90 minutes and it carries 200 marks.

2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are called for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
For Male Candidates:
- Height: 167 cm (160 cm for Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis, and Scheduled Tribes)
- Chest: 79 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm (76 cm for Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis, and Scheduled Tribes)
For Female Candidates:
- Height: 160 cm (152 cm for Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis, and Scheduled Tribes)
- There is no chest measurement for female candidates.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
For Male Candidates:
- 800 meters run within 3 minutes.
For Female Candidates:
- 400 meters run within 2 minutes.
3. WB Police Sub Inspector Final Combined Competitive Examination Syllabus
The Final Combined Competitive Examination consists of three papers, each with a descriptive format. The total marks for this stage are 200.
Paper I: General Studies and Arithmetic (100 Marks)
General Studies (50 Marks):
- Topics related to Indian history, geography, economy, polity, science, and technology, current affairs of national and international importance, with a special focus on West Bengal.

4. WB Police Sub Inspector Personality Test
The Personality Test carries 30 marks and is conducted for candidates who qualify in the Final Combined Competitive Examination. The Personality Test assesses the following:
- Communication skills
- General awareness and knowledge of current events
- Critical thinking and decision-making ability
- General personality traits and suitability for the role of a Sub-Inspector
