UP Police Constable Syllabus

The UP Police Constable Exam is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) for recruiting constables in the Uttar Pradesh Police Department. The exam consists of a written examination, document verification, physical standard test (PST), and physical efficiency test (PET).

1. Written Examination

The Written Examination is objective in nature and consists of multiple-choice questions. The syllabus covers four main subjects:

General Knowledge (GK) and General Awareness

  • Marks: 150

        • National and International events, sports, awards, important days, and personalities.

Indian History

        • Ancient, Medieval, and Modern History of India, Freedom Struggle.

Indian Geography

        • Physical geography, climate, rivers, mountains, and political geography of India.

        • Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, and Governance.

Economy and Social Development

        • Indian Economy, Planning, Development, Budget, Taxes, and Financial Policies.

Environmental and Ecological Issues

        • Biodiversity, Environmental Conservation, Climate Change, and General Science.

General Science

        • Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and basics of environmental science.

Indian National Movement

        • Important movements, prominent leaders, and their contributions.

Special Knowledge about Uttar Pradesh

        • History, culture, geography, economy, demography, and political and social issues of Uttar Pradesh.

Numerical Ability and Mental Aptitude

  • Marks: 75
  • Topics:

        • Integers, Fractions, Decimals, Simplification, and LCM & HCF.

Percentage

        • Calculation-based problems on percentage.

Average

        • Problems based on calculating average.

Ratio and Proportion

        • Simple ratio and proportion problems.

Profit and Loss

        • Questions related to calculating profit and loss.

Simple and Compound Interest

        • Calculation-based questions on simple and compound interest.

Time and Work

        • Problems on work efficiency, work done, and time taken.

Time and Distance

        • Speed, distance, time, and related calculations.

Mensuration

        • Area, volume, perimeter, and surface area of different shapes.

Mental Aptitude

        • Reasoning questions, logical deductions, and problem-solving skills.

Reasoning Ability

  • Marks: 75
  • Topics:

Analogies

        • Finding relationships between words and ideas.

Coding-Decoding

        • Problems related to code-based information.

Similarities and Differences

        • Identifying similarities and differences among objects.

Visual Memory

        • Questions that test the ability to remember visual objects.

Relationship Concepts

        • Identifying patterns and understanding family relationships.

Arithmetic Reasoning

        • Mathematical and logical reasoning questions.

Verbal and Figure Classification

        • Questions based on verbal and visual data classification.

Venn Diagrams

        • Problems involving logical Venn diagrams and relationships.

Decision-Making and Problem Solving

        • Assessing decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Space Visualization

        • Questions on visualizing shapes in a given space.

General Hindi

  • Marks: 100
  • Topics:

Grammar

        • Hindi grammar, usage, and rules.

Vocabulary

        • Synonyms, antonyms, word meanings, and word usage.

Comprehension

        • Reading comprehension passages and questions.

Idioms and Phrases

        • Common idioms and phrases in Hindi.

Fill in the Blanks

        • Sentence completion with appropriate words.

Error Detection

        • Questions on detecting errors in sentences.

Sentence Rearrangement

        • Rearranging jumbled sentences to form coherent sentences.

2. Physical Standard Test (PST)

The Physical Standard Test (PST) assesses the physical attributes of candidates like height, chest measurements, etc.

Height:

  • Male Candidates (General, SC, OBC): Minimum 168 cm
  • Male Candidates (ST): Minimum 160 cm
  • Female Candidates (General, SC, OBC): Minimum 152 cm
  • Female Candidates (ST): Minimum 147 cm

Chest (Only for Male Candidates):

  • General, SC, OBC: 79 cm (Unexpanded) and 84 cm (Expanded)
  • ST: 77 cm (Unexpanded) and 82 cm (Expanded)

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) evaluates the physical fitness of the candidates.

Male Candidates:

  • 4.8 km run in 25 minutes.

Female Candidates:

  • 2.4 km run in 14 minutes.

4. Document Verification

Candidates who pass the written examination, PST, and PET will be called for Document Verification. During this stage, candidates must produce original documents like educational certificates, caste certificates, domicile certificates, etc.
